When you start anything in life the best way to start is to know your why. If you have no purpose, it’s nearly impossible to have the drive to succeed. When I started my in home business, I honestly had no purpose. Well maybe I had purpose, but the purpose was sheer boredom. I was working part time as a breastfeeding consultant for the county and when that project ended, I felt I had no purpose other than in the home. Not that my family isn’t enough, I just wanted something personal and just for me.
A couple of weeks prior, my husband’s business colleague’s wide had come over and gave my husband a sample of OnGuard because he’d had a cold. She started talking to me about essential oils and my first thought was “great, snake oils.” I mean, I’d used them before but not for anything serious. Lavender powder on my sheets, tea tree oil on a pimple… and I got them at my local health food store, so I was good. It was actually my husband who got me on board with oils. They worked for him! Every single sample she had given him, worked. I had no choice but to give it a try.
My first sample was DigestZen. I had over done it on Thanksgiving dinner and couldn’t move. I put one tiny little baby drop and massaged it on my stomach, I felt relief in minutes. That right there was when I was hooked, I drank the Kool-Aid, give me all the oils.
She didn’t sign me up for another couple of months and even when I did, I never thought of it as a “business” until I went to their annual convention. I just liked to share. I was buying, using and learning about oils for months. Even after I left convention I was never a builder… and I’m still not a year later. I’m just here to share, you want some, cool… you don’t, cool, would you like some wine instead?
Before all of this began had gone to college and gotten my bachelors in sociology. I then went to grad school and received my Masters in Public Health. Then I went on to be certified as a breastfeeding counselor. My goal in life was always to help people. However I could. Be it time, money, advice, or just a listening ear… I always wanted to save the world one person at a time.
When I remembered that, that was what I truly wanted to be “when I was a kid” that’s when I realized my WHY.
Don’t get me wrong. Essential oils may not save the whole world, but I’ve seen a whole lot of good come out of them. Freedom of choice, financial freedom, and knowledge is freedom.
Knowing you have options is the essence of informed choice.
Every person could and should benefit from at least one essential oil. You can’t not.
